Maestin Baseball

We played a lot of baseball this summer.  After city league Maestin played on the Malad All Star team, and then he played on a fall traveling team.  We had fun, but now Maestin sees why mom and dad have  been hesitant about playing on traveling teams.  It took a lot of time, and Maestin is ok not doing it again this year.  It is fun to play ball as a family in the back yard, and the boys did this a lot, and they love when dad joins them.

At the Malad All Star tournament they had a home run derby you can pay a dollar and hit the ball as hard as you can, the home runs win.  This is Maestin turn at it.

Of course the little brothers had to have a chance at it, even though they were the very youngest ones there.  This is Addler
My little lefty...he wanted a good whack at it!

Maestin's All Star team.  He had great coaches this year, and a really fun group of boys.

Maestin pitched a game one time this year, and I knew I better get a picture!
The traveling team was the Malad Rockies...this is them on a victory run Maestin is second.
The Malad Rockies in St. George.  This was a fun tournament to go to we stayed in Mesquite and played in St. George.  This was actually the end of October so it was nice to go down for some nice whether.  We had fun as a family.

Maestin up to bat.  His batting was so much better this year his coaches played a huge part in it.  And Maestin had a lot more fun knowing that he would hit the ball and have a good hit.

Tubbs reunion

For the Tubbs reunion this year we headed out to Bull Canyon, the family has created a nice little camp ground up three forks and we had a good time.  We really had everyone there this year except Kyle and Jessica and Tina couldn't make it, but Blake and the kids came anyway.  It was a lot of fun.  We took off one day and went swimming at Indian Hot Springs, and then they came back did some trap shooting.  I didn't get any pictures of either one, but they were a lot of fun.  Blake shot a badger, and the next morning a group saw a bob cat and some cubs while they were out for a four wheel ride.  The boys love to play with their cousins and have a good time.  Grandpa and Grandpa Tubbs had a scavenger hunt for the grand kids that was a hit.

Fishing

Ruxton as well as the other boys had been asking Austin to take them fishing...so Austin had some time and we headed over behind Asay's to fish.  It was a fun evening.
I had to get a picture of what fishing with four boys is really about for a dad.  This is what Austin spends the entire time doing.  Getting one pole ready after another, to do it all over again as worms and hooks are lost, or lines get tangled.  He never complains ever!  He is the greatest.

Addler  patiently but all over the place waiting to cast a line.
Ruxton really wanted to go the worst this night, and he was feeling under the weather, he got sick while  we were there so he only fished for a while, poor kid!
Ruxton, Addler, Maestin finally fishing
Holdan playing and begging for a turn
And the mighty fisherWomen is...yes mom.  No luck for anyone, it was just about dark and everyone was done.  I cast out and got a bite with one cast.  The boys couldn't believe it!   They thought it was cool but just couldn't believe that they had spent all that time without a bite and I did it with one cast.  I told them I was the mighty fisherMom...they just rolled there eyes.  I really do love to fish and wish we all went more often.  I don't have the patience dad has so I won't take them by myself.

fish hatchery and Idaho City

There was a fish hatchery right in MCall that I wanted to stop and take the kids through.  When Austin was finished with meetings before we headed out we stopped.  It was cool, a lot of fish.  They were Salmon.  The boys enjoyed it.  We aslo stopped at the museum in MaCall.  The history of MaCall is really about the jobs taht were created during the depression, they had a camp of men doing all kinds of jobs around the area.

Look we finally got him with a smile!  Good job Maestin
After leaving MaCall we took a detore home and went up to Idaho City.  It was a beutiful drive, a little crazy at times with dirt roads, but we had fun.  We read about the minning city learned some interesting things, walked through the town bought ice cream and headed home.  It was a fun day, we love to explore new places and learn new things together as family.  It is actually one of our favorite things to do.

MaCall FB Trip 7-20-11

One of our favorite Farm Beureau trips is the summer one.  This year we spent a few days in MaCall, right on the Lake.  The boys were totally amazed at the room.  We were too a little.  It had two rooms and the lake was right out the back door.  The boys really had a ball! Top picture is Austin and Maestin in the living room area of the room.
Maestin and Addler watching TV.
There was also a ton of other fun things to do.  There was a tennsi cort and basket ball cort.  Here they are in the racket ball cort.  They loved this.  They spent so much time in there just wacking balls. Ruxton, Maestin, Addler.
Holdan really wanted to play with them in the racket ball cort but it was a little dangerouse and after a few bongs on the head we headed out and I found something for him to do as well.  He stacked these block things and crashed them down with volleyballs.  He still had fun.
Holdan and I having fun while the boys played racket-ball.
So here is the beutifull COLD lake.  The boys played there for about 10 seconds!  It really was cold.  And it wasn't like it was really hot up in MaCall either.  The sand ws fun but the water was just too cold.  Maestin and Addler trying to be brave and venture out.
Holdan and Ruxton experiencing the cold.
Holdan, Ruxton playing in the sand, Addler being a goof ball.
Maestin having fits after just dunking himself in the cold.
More attempts...not so successful.  I thought it was funny, they just kept trying they really wanted to make it out to a big water trampoleen out in the lake.

Holdan headed out of the lake to the hot tub!
When they weren't eating, sleeping, or in the racket ball cort this is where we were...swimming!  Maestin and Addler dunking each other, Holdan watching.

Holdan is a complete water bug.  I did not even get in the water the last day and a half he is fearless and goes everywhere.  We even took of the floaties this year, and he was swimming without them a bit.  But he wants to be where the big boys are so he wants the floaties on and off he goes.
I called his name to get a picture and he gave me that glare, he was getting a bit tired at this point.
My water bug, Holdan
There is a family of girls that we are good friends with and they took the three boys out to the trampoleen, they were not even out there 10 minutes.  After the swim out they were freezing.  But they said that it was fun.
Maestin, Ruxton, and Addler jumping.
Addler jumped on this canoe with someone, whom i have no idea who they were, I discovered and hitched a ride back to the beach, smart kid.
This is what you get when you have a three year that has swam non stop for two days.  Were were just about done at this point and he found me on his own and just wanted to lay there.  He was exhausted!  Who knew fun could be so much work?

Maestin

Addler, Maysi, Holdan, and Ruxton  our room is right behind us to the right.

Maestin, Holdan, Ruxton, Addler playing in the sand waiting for dad to finish his last meeting.
Our family on the lake. Participating in farm bureau has been great, we have been given opportunities we would never have been able to do.  The boys have been bumbed that this is our last year.  Austin and I finish with our term the end of January.  However, Austin just got voted in as the new Oneida county Farm Bureau President (not so willingly) so we will at least still get to go on the summer trip each year.  We are so excited!
